Tottenham Manager Thomas Frank Calls Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Genuine Supporters'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Defeat Tottenham and Increase Pressure on Frank

Spurs fans who booed keeper Guglielmo Vicario were told afterwards "they can't be true Tottenham supporters" by manager Frank.

Tottenham let in two goals in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to their opponents, marking their tenth Premier League at home defeat of 2025.

But the main topic of discussion was the visitors' next score when the keeper gave away possession well beyond his area.

He came out to handle a high pass and carried the ball towards the sideline.

However, instead of kicking it out of play, the Italian turned and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

King laid the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the sideline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.

Moments later when the ball came to Vicario once more, some Tottenham supporters jeered him.

The team were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.

One of those jeering sessions truly angered Frank.

"I heard some of our supporters reportedly booed the incident and jeered following, which, in my view is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager stated regarding the fans' response to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals can't be true Tottenham fans that do that. Fair enough jeering following the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are behind each other moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had handed the visitors a fourth-minute advantage before Wilson's strike – with Kudus netting for Spurs in an improved second-half showing.

Ex- top-flight goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the next score was "totally avoidable".

"I do understand the supporters' frustration," Hart added. "I am aware the part the keeper is playing. He's a excellent squad member, he's a true leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"The keeper was heavily implicated in what ended up to be the decisive goal."

'It is Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'

Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Keeper Vicario Following the Game

Italian national team the keeper is in his 3rd campaign with Spurs.

The 29-year-old said following the match that he had to take the feedback.

"That goal was a mistake of my own, I accept accountability for it," he commented.

"My aim was to clear the ball long and I just struck the ball in a bad manner. It was an more difficult challenge to overcome."

He stated being booed "comes with football".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "The team can't be influenced by the situation in the crowd. Supporters have the entitlement to do as they see fit.

"It is on us to stay increasingly composed, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is lacking in calmness and poise to overturn results. Today is a bad defeat and it's tough to take."

'It Shocked Me Nobody Went Back to the Line'

Despite the keeper's error, it was not an simple goal for Harry Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the second most distant top division goal of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 yard goal for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly also came on Saturday.

Wilson said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open goal to aim for.

10 moments elapsed between Vicario coming out of his box and the midfielder striking – which was 5 seconds after the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was out of the box for a long time," he said.

"It amazed me none of the defenders went back to the goal line. When none of them defended the net, my eyes lit up somewhat.

"Udogie slipped as well, which allowed me a little additional opportunity. After that it was all about trying to achieve the right contact and place it on target. I had a positive feeling, as soon as it came off my foot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Poor Run, All Appears to Go Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still in Play Is Totally Unacceptable - Frank

While the keeper's mistake dominated coverage, this was an all-round poor performance for Spurs to continue their home struggles.

The match was their 10th home defeat of the year in the league, a shared club statistic along with 1994 and 2003.

They still have home games against the manager's former club Brentford and title holders Liverpool to play before the close of the year.

Just a single of those wins have come after Frank replaced his predecessor in the off-season.

"When you're behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," said Frank.

"During in a bad spell, everything seems to go against you as well – the first was a deflected attempt, the second is a mistake from Vic.

"This result leaves us in a place where we have lost an additional match. Each fixture has a single story, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We simply need to continue striving. The later period was much better and hopefully something we can utilize to develop."

Spurs have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are recording nine point five attempts and three point two efforts on goal per game in the division – their poorest rates on record in a one campaign (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Cottagers midfield player Murphy commented that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He's got take the criticism," the pundit remarked. "He's taken a high profile role at a major football club with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
