New Details Come to Light About the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Remains
New information has come to light concerning the shocking demises of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.
The Alarm
As detailed in an account citing a confidential source, a practitioner scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after not being able to enter the house. The therapist then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.
When she went into the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had gone with her contacted 911. Afterward, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently detained without bail.
Clarifications
The confidential informant challenged several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the grounds, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.
Furthermore disputed published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation applies to accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts indicated the condition of their bodies implied they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
