Week 10 again delivered, with a huge upset for the Bills demonstrating the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that draws so many people into the NFL
That result could have created things up for the Patriots to move back into a leading position they used to occupy, with a remaining games that gives them an edge over their eight and two competitors
Over in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to set up a major confrontation in week 11, while our player of the week is chasing records as well as the Most Valuable Player award
Analysis - Simply an Off Day for the Bills?
Could it simply have been an emotional letdown from beating the Chiefs last week or something more? That's the question for the Bills to answer
The Bills had secured seven victories in a row against Miami but were outperformed from the beginning as the Dolphins emerged as 30-13 victors in an surprising result - and performance
MVP Josh Allen only achieved the squad's initial first down in the third period and initial scoring in the fourth - admittedly the Dolphins had ten days to get ready but it was still a significant failure laid by one of the league's top offences
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two touchdowns but running back De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two scores
Bottling up the NFL's top rushing attack was also key, with James Cook and teammates registering just 86 yards, their fewest of the year and just over half their 161.5-yard season average
Then there were the three crucial ball losses, and the two from Allen in particular. An interception in the end zone resulting in a nine minute possession yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that Miami turned into a touchdown just two plays
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, falling into a hole on defense and Josh Allen attempting to overcompensate to rescue his squad out of it - not the composed, disciplined, well-balanced Bills we've witnessed this year
The Dolphins have served up a bit of everything this season so the jury's out on whether this is the beginning of something, but for the Bills they'll need an immediate bounce-back in a tough game against the Buccaneers in week 11 as the New England are quietly moving into a nice lead at the top of the American Football Conference East
Spotlight - Patriots See Path to Unexpected First Place
Speaking of the New England, they're among three 8-2 teams in the NFL, all American Football Conference sides, but are they the best?
One could pick holes in the Patriots, Denver and Indianapolis really for feasting on the lesser sides, with only five of their combined twenty-four wins coming against opponents with a positive record - and one of those was the Colts defeating the Denver
The Broncos defeated the reigning champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are masters of the final quarter while Indy can ride Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their prime time win in Orchard Park appears to be a declaration
Their two defeats came in new head coach Mike Vrabel's initial three contests, with seven consecutive victories, similar to the Broncos, from that point - but taking down Mayfield after the Bucs had a bye to get ready was significant
Maye's MVP claims continue to be discussed, and he certainly deserves point for courage after absorbing some savage hits in Tampa but hanging in there to steer his team to success
The defense is solid and rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating scores of 55 and 69 yards - becoming just the fifth ball carrier to exceed 22 miles per hour this year on his first score
While you can debate who 'the best' is statistically, the Pats should be favorites to end with the top record due to their schedule - which features just a single matchup against a winning team, although a significant contest against the Bills
Traveling to the Ravens is also tough, but the Broncos have it even tougher in the AFC West division with the Kansas City to face two times, the Los Angeles Chargers (who could also challenge for first place but encounter the same problem) and also the Green Bay on the schedule
The Colts also face the Chiefs, and have the Seahawks, 49ers and two matchups with the five and four Jacksonville to contend with. There's a considerable distance to go but the opportunity is available for a surprise number one position in the AFC
Coming Up - Rams & Seahawks Set for Week 11 Clash
Two teams with strong arguments to be superior to all of the three eight and two teams are National Football Conference West opponents the Seahawks and Rams, who both put up 40 burgers to reach 7-2 before the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the two in LA
They've both won four in a row, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an high standard (although Sam Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses allowing fewer than twenty points a game
Each could realistically be without a loss as well - especially the Rams as their pair of losses occurred in extra time against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a potentially winning field goal with the last kick blocked and returned by the Philadelphia for a score
The Seahawks were also defeated to the 49ers, with a late touchdown in the opening week, before losing to the final play of the game against the Buccaneers - so they are genuinely among the best sides in the league
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the year to date
Top Performer - Jonathan Taylor
Jonathan Taylor might be on for a historic year after his remarkable performance in Germany - running for 244 yards, scoring three touchdowns and contributing another forty-two {receiving yards
