Both Deceased Students Named in Brown University Incident as Authorities Persist in Hunt for Perpetrator.

Two students who were killed in the weekend's violent attack on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their killer continued following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

Her role included vice-president of Brown’s chapter of the campus GOP group, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also shared words of sorrow online, saying in part: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, family members said.

His name was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of becoming a neurosurgeon and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

Nine other people were injured in the violent event in the engineering building of Brown’s university in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man arrested in a police operation at a Hampton Inn about around 27 kilometers from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate fresh anxiety for our community”.

The shooter opened fire inside a classroom in the building on Saturday afternoon, firing more than 40 rounds from a handgun, a authority informed the media outlet.

Those Hurt
