American entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in beloved programs including "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed aged 60.

The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California on Monday following cancer treatment beginning in 2022, as reported by news outlets.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones shared in a announcement.

They added that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Television Career

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, playing a social organizer who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

His most famous role for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His work in movies are "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".

Off-Screen Life

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a six-person improv troupe named Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students during his career and it's nearly impossible to find someone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, peer Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted publicly.

Pat Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
